Concept and Structure
Research activities in the German Center for Diabetes Research are characterized by a new integrative approach that supplements and extends existing instruments and structures both nationally and internationally. The objectives are to develop personalized prevention strategies as well as causal therapies.
In July 2009 the German Center for Diabetes Research was founded in the legal form of an association. The head office is located at Helmholtz Zentrum München.
Our research partners are the following non-university research institutes and universities. The Board is made up of one representative each from the Helmholtz center, the universities and the Leibniz institutes.

Scientific Advisory Board:
The orientation and quality of the research programs will be evaluated in regular reviews by a scientific advisory board and by external bodies comprised of international reviewers. The Scientific Advisory Board is made up of renowned international scientists in the field of diabetes research.
