With its Science Year, the BMFTR brings a future-oriented research topic to life for all citizens every year and shows how research will shape everyday life tomorrow. The DZG is involved in the programme for the kick-off event with specialist presentations and exhibits from the field of mental health and neurology. The DZD will also be actively involved in the field of diabetology in Science Year 2026.
Public evening event
The event (lecture language: German) will begin at 5.30 p.m with an opening address by Parliamentary State Secretary Matthias Hauer. This will be followed by a discussion with scientists from the fields of nursing and robotics, mental health, cancer prevention, brain health in old age and digital medicine, who will talk about current developments and prospects. The evening will be moderated by Stephanie Hielscher.
Interactive formats and personal exchange
The Meet the Scientist formats focus on direct dialogue. The programme is complemented by interactive improv theatre, as well as time for discussions and visits to the accompanying exhibition with impressive exhibits from medical research. Guided tours of the Futurium exhibition provide additional insights into future scenarios at the interface between science and society. The event is free of charge.
