DZD News

What will medicine look like in the future? This question will be the focus of the kick-off event for Science Year 2026 – Medicine of the Future on 20 January 2026. The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) cordially invites all interested citizens to come and learn about the medicine of the future up close. The German Centres for Health Research (DZG) are actively involved in the programme.

With its Science Year, the BMFTR brings a future-oriented research topic to life for all citizens every year and shows how research will shape everyday life tomorrow. The DZG is involved in the programme for the kick-off event with specialist presentations and exhibits from the field of mental health and neurology. The DZD will also be actively involved in the field of diabetology in Science Year 2026.

Public evening event

The event (lecture language: German) will begin at 5.30 p.m  with an opening address by Parliamentary State Secretary Matthias Hauer. This will be followed by a discussion with scientists from the fields of nursing and robotics, mental health, cancer prevention, brain health in old age and digital medicine, who will talk about current developments and prospects. The evening will be moderated by Stephanie Hielscher.
