The TV Program “Sendung mit der Maus” Visits DZD Partner in Dresden
Children between five and ten years old are invited to a “Door Opener Day” with the mouse on October 3rd from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The DZD partner Paul Langerhans Institute Dresden, the CRTD, BIOTEC and B CUBE are hosting the event. Besides interesting presentations, there will also be practical exercises and information kiosks for the young guests.
Of course, the mouse, WDR's knowledge mediator for generations of television viewers, has prepared well and gathered information in advance at the Dresden institutes.
On "Door Opener Day", the children are asked to take on the role of a researcher and to pipette or conduct experiments in the laboratory. “Get to know important model organisms of our research or feel like a student during short presentations in our lecture hall. In addition, learn about retinal research using our eye model," the WDR announcement stated. In this case there are even three doors: those of the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), the Biotechnology Center TU Dresden (BIOTEC) and the Center for Molecular Bioengineering at TU Dresden (B CUBE). The presentations in the auditorium will focus on the topics "What are cells?" and "Can they be viewed?” The model organisms of fly, zebrafish and axolotl will be presented, as well as an eye model and cleanroom clothing. In the play and handicraft corner, the children can put what they have learned into practice in a creative way.
The mouse also used the website of the DZD for preparation.
