Around World Diabetes Day on November 14, DZD researchers and the team of the diabetes information portal diabinfo.de were involved in providing information about the metabolic disease diabetes and current research findings. Here are some of the highlights:
Participation at „Meilensteine der modernen Diabetologie 2024“
On November 10, diabinfo.de was represented with a stand at the „Meilensteine der modernen Diabetologie 2024“ (“Milestones of Modern Diabetology 2024”) conference in Berlin. Numerous visitors took the opportunity to talk directly to the diabinfo.de team and get to know the portal's wide range of services. The various diabinfo downloads and the Pixi book “Finn hat Diabetes” (“Finn has diabetes”), which introduces children to the topic of type 1 diabetes in a vivid way, were particularly popular.
diabinfo.de as a network partner at the Virtual World Diabetes Day
diabinfo.de was also a network partner of the Virtual World Diabetes Day of #dedoc, an international community by and for people with diabetes. The Virtual World Diabetes Day took place live on weltdiabetestag.de on November 14 at 8 pm. Among other things, people reported on their everyday lives with diabetes and there was news from research. The newspaper Die ZEIT accompanied the event with a “special”. In a one-page article on the topic of diabetes, current research results from the DZD (diabetes subtypes, risk test, artificial pancreas) and diabinfo.de were presented.
World Diabetes Day: PLID researchers organize information stand
On World Diabetes Day, researchers from the DZD partner Paul Langerhans Institute Dresden set up an information stand on the campus of the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital. There, interested parties were able to find out about the incidence, prevention, symptoms and treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Visitors had the opportunity to meet experienced diabetes researchers and ask their questions directly. They were also able to find out about the current research projects being carried out at PLID to improve the lives of people with diabetes.
Special guests at the event included Sabine Rösler, representative of the Lions Club Dresden, and Dr. V. Mohan, Chairman of the Board of the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF), who visited Dresden with some of his colleagues to share his expertise and raise awareness about diabetes.
diabinfo.de and DZD at the Diabetes Autumn Conference
At the Diabetes Autumn Conference of the DDG (November 22 and 23) in Hanover, diabinfo.de had a stand providing information on practical tips for preventing and managing diabetes. Current research results from the German Center for Diabetes Research and insights into target group-oriented communication on diabetes were presented by DZD researchers and representatives of diabinfo.de at a symposium.
