Best Paper Award 2014 for DZD Scientists

The Best Paper Award 2014 of the Journal of Peptide Science goes to scientists of the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity (IDO) at the DZD site Helmholtz Zentrum München for the article “Restoration of leptin responsiveness in diet-induced obese mice using an optimized leptin analog in combination with exendin-4 or FGF21”.

The publication was one of the ten most cited articles retrieved and downloaded from the Internet of all articles appearing in the 2011-2012 issues of the journal. This was the prerequisite in order to be nominated for the so-called short list. From these ten articles, the evaluations of the members of the journal’s editorial board selected the scientists from Helmholtz Zentrum München as winners  of the prize. The award is endowed with 2,000 euros.
In the publication, the IDO team led by Dr. Timo Müller and Professor Matthias Tschöp, in collaboration with international colleagues from the University of Cincinnati, Indiana University and the Ambrx company, reported how sensitivity to the satiety hormone leptin can be pharmacologically optimized in obese mice.
