The symposium “Prediabetes and diabetes: target group-oriented prevention, therapy and education” will present the latest scientific findings from research and clinical practice on prediabetes and diabetes. The symposium will also focus on the question of how scientifically proven and quality-assured information can be communicated to the public and professionals in a way that is appropriate for the target group. In addition, a person with type 1 diabetes will provide insights into what needs to be considered from the perspective of those affected.
The presentations:

  • Diabetes subtypes in men and women: Causes, effects and gender-specific treatment approaches (Prof. Dr. Robert Wagner, German Diabetes Center Düsseldorf)
  • Innovative prevention strategies to maintain metabolic health: Preclinical approaches and findings (Dr. Siegfried Ussar, Helmholtz Munich)
  • Target group-oriented online communication on the prevention and treatment of diabetes (Ulrike Koller, Helmholtz Munich)
  • From the perspective of those affected (Karin Seyffarth, Bernau)
  • From the perspective of experts (Dr. Dorothea Reichert, Congress President)
