DZD Active Participant in “Diabetes Challenges Us!”

During the campaign day "Diabetes bewegt uns!" / “Diabetes Challenges Us!” of the Bavarian Ministry of Health on July 12th at Odeonsplatz in Munich, the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) was the point of contact for the interested public and those affected by the disease. At a joint information stand with the Diabetes Information Service Munich and the Institute of Diabetes Research of Helmholtz Zentrum München, gestational diabetes and the prevention of type 2 diabetes were in the foreground.

Together with the radio moderator Johannes Ott, the Bavarian Health Minister Melanie Huml (image below) moderated the campaign day “Healthy. Living. Bavaria.” with this year’s focus on diabetes. A varied program informed the visitors about the disease. Stage interviews with experts, Nordic walking with Rosi Mittermaier and Christian Neureuther and show cooking with organic chef Christopher Hinze were part of the program as well as stands of the German Diabetes Foundation, health insurance companies and patient organizations.

Quick test of diabetes risk
The German Diabetes Risk Test® of the DZD attracted great interest and was performed more than 100 times. Each test took only minutes using the questionnaire. Participants were able to discuss their results with experts at the stand and take home the tips on the questionnaire about how to reduce diabetes risk. The interactive DZD stand offered something for all ages. Rosi Mittermaier also stopped by.
