DZD in Diabetes TV

The current program of “Das Diabetes TV” contains a live broadcast with a report from the largest national diabetes congress with representatives of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD). An additional report is devoted to the 50th anniversary of the DZD partner German Diabetes Center in Düsseldorf (DDZ).

The report segment „Volle Diskussion“ shows the DZD scientists Professor Martin Hrabě de Angelis, board member of the DZD, and Professor Norbert Stefan, this year’s congress president of the Diabetes Congress, in an interview about the interaction of research, the patient and policy making (from minute 10:38). Stefan stresses the need for action by policy makers in government due to the pressure of the increasing number of patients. Researchers distinguish an increasing number of sub-groups for diabetes, according to Hrabě de Angelis. That is why it is important to develop individualized prevention strategies, risk determinations and therapies.
In the segment „Volle Feier“ (from minute 14:47) on the 50th anniversary of the DDZ, institute director and DZD board member Professor Michael Roden reports about the research achievements at the DDZ. Federal Health Minister Hermann Gröhe comments on the dramatic impact of diabetes on society and emphasizes the importance of close cooperation with the patient, attending physicians and research.
