DZG Symposium on Post-COVID Syndrome

The health consequences that persist beyond the acute infection phase of COVID-19, referred to as post-COVID syndrome, represent an enormous global health challenge. The German Centers for Health Research (DZG) are organizing a scientific symposium on this topic in Frankfurt/M. on October 31, followed by an event for interested citizens.

In post-COVID syndrome, symptoms and organ involvement vary widely. At the functional level, fatigue, pain, post-exertional symptoms, and occupational symptoms are the most prominent. At the organ level, the cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic, and nervous systems are most affected and are associated with impairments in physical, mental, and cognitive health.

For this reason, the German Centers for Health Research DZHK, DZD, DZL, DZIF and DZNE are organizing a scientific conference focusing on the epidemiology, pathophysiology and possible treatment modalities of post-infection sequelae after COVID-19. The mutual scientific exchange between the German Centers for Health Research provides an ideal forum to address the complex, multifactorial impairments associated with post-COVID syndromes.

The scientists also want to discuss the consequences for health care in Germany resulting from post-COVID syndromes.

In the evening, the interested public is invited to a Citizen's Dialogue in the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt/Main.
