Influence of Body Size with Increased BMI on the Risk of Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases
If the body mass index (BMI) is the only factor used as a basis for tall people, the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease might be underestimated. Studies by the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) indicate that the fat level and the risk of type 2 diabetes are higher in larger people than in smaller people even if the increase in their BMI is the same.
The results of their examinations have now been published in “The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology”.
