Interactive DZD Stand at the World Diabetes Day 2014 in Leipzig

On November 23, 2014 the central public event for World Diabetes Day with nearly 4,000 participants was held in the Congress Center Leipzig (CCL). The interactive stand of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) offered visitors a varied program. In their presentations, the DZD experts Prof. Peter Schwarz, Technische Universität Dresden, Prof. Hans Hauner, Technische Universität München, and Prof. Matthias Blüher, University Hospital Leipzig, updated the visitors on diabetes prevention, presented the ongoing studies of the DZD and provided information about diabetes in pregnancy and about obesity. After the presentations, the visitors had the opportunity to ask the experts at the DZD stand individual questions.

Many visitors took the opportunity to determine their personal diabetes risk with the DIfE GERMAN DIABETES RISK TEST® (link to the online test in German language). At headphones they could hear four patients telling about their experiences with diabetes. A peg game with questions and answers provided an entertaining way to check out one’s own knowledge about diabetes. Information material about the DZD and about the latest studies was also available at the stand.
