Online Study: How Does Lifestyle Affect the Course of Covid-19?

A new online study LIFE & COVID on the topic of lifestyle and Covid-19 has been launched by the Diabetes Study Center of the university hospital of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich under the direction of PD Dr. Andreas Lechner. The extent to which lifestyle factors, such as diet and exercise, have an influence on the severity of the course of the disease will be determined over a period of 12 months using a maximum of four online surveys. Those who have recovered from the disease are eligible to participate.

The relationships between lifestyle, well-being and various diseases are the research topic of Dr. Lechner's team, which is a Clinical Cooperation Group of the DZD partner Helmholtz Zentrum München. The LIFE & COVID study investigates which factors are responsible for the severity of the course of a Covid-19 infection. In addition, it aims to identify possible longer-term consequences of a Covid-19 infection, about which little is known so far.

Participation requirements
In this online study LIFE & COVID, online questionnaires are used to ask people who have recovered from COVID-19 for information about aspects of their Covid-19 disease as well as lifestyle factors, concomitant diseases and medication intake at the time of diagnosis. Following the beginning of the study, a maximum of four questionnaires are sent via online to the individual study participants during a total period of 12 months. Each questionnaire takes about 10 to 20 minutes to answer.

Participation is open to interested persons who have recovered from a Covid-19 disease for which they have received a verified Covid-19 diagnosis within the last 12 months. They should be at least 18 years old and live in Germany.
