Translational research excellence at the DZD Diabetes Research School 2021

The 9th DZD Diabetes Research School (DRS) of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) will take place on four dates in the first two weeks of October 2021 as a virtual lecture series. All doctoral students, postdocs and researching physicians interested in diabetes and metabolism research are invited. Renowned diabetes researchers will give an insight into their current work. Participants can present their own projects in short lightning talks. Virtual discussion rounds ensure intensive exchange and networking.

The focus of this year's lecture series is on translation: speakers from basic research, epidemiology and/or clinical research present on a common topic and enter into discussion with each other. On October 7, the scientific lecture series will start with a focus on epigenetic inheritance of metabolic diseases with Klaus Kästner (USA), among others. This will be followed on October 12 by Miriam Udler (USA) and Paul Franks (DK) talking about the classification of diabetes subtypes and their significance for precision medicine. The final event on October 14 will focus on dietary approaches in diabetes therapy with presentations by Roy Taylor (UK) and Pam Taub (USA).

A satellite seminar on "Integrated Personalised Diabetes Management" on October 5 will provide insights into current research on healthcare for diabetes patients.

The DZD International Diabetes Research School is the annual highlight of DZD NEXT, the DZD training and education program for young scientists.

Applications for lightning talks are open until September 13, 2021. Participation is free of charge.
