DZD at EASD: Presentation of Achievements in Translational Research
Information on translational diabetes research, presentation of current research results, meetings between young scientists and people with diabetes – that and much more will be offered by the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) at the Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), October 1-5, 2018, Berlin).
Together with the German Diabetes Society (DDG) and the Danish Diabetes Academy, the DZD will share a stand in the Association’s Village at the EASD. There, the DZD will provide information about translational diabetes research, DZD young investigator programs and current research results. A special highlight on the program is "DZD meets #dedoc" on October 2nd at 3:30 p.m. At this event, DZD, diabetesDE, the DDG and the diabetes online community #dedoc will invite people with diabetes to take part in a discussion with young diabetes researchers.
DZD Meets #dedoc – Perspectives of Patients and Researchers
What do people with diabetes hope from science? What drives young researchers? These questions will be addressed in the event moderated by Bastian Hauck, blogger and type 1 diabetes patient. Further topics of the event will be the prevention of type 1 diabetes, the influence of lifestyle on the development of type 2 diabetes, nutrition in diabetes as well as long-term diabetes complications. (Participation in the event is open to EASD attendees only.)
DZD scientists are represented in varied ways in the lecture and poster program of the EASD. In various symposia, they will present current results of translational diabetes research. The numerous contributions of the DZD researchers include the following topics: the brain and diabetes, complications in diabetes, the development of multi-antagonists for future treatment, and the influence of physical activity and lifestyle on the development of this metabolic disease.
