Research Data Management
Translational research requires effective handling of large amounts of data. To achieve this, the DZD Research Data Management provides a solid basis.
Of particular importance here is the utilization of data from clinical studies conducted by the DZD by
- using the DZD Core Data Set for the collection of standardized data
- applying detailed data dictionaries and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain uniformly high quality standards
- harmonizing heterogeneous data in the internationally recognized OMOP Common Data Model for the widest possible reuse
Another focus is the development and provision of DZD data services for translational diabetes research. This includes
- Data services for the secure provision of clinical data and for file exchange among researchers
- Information services (wikis) and collaboration services for researchers and other user groups such as junior scientists
- Online tools for research applications developed at the DZD or for data collection in clinical studies conducted by the DZD
The DZD Research Data Management follows the concept of Open Science: Data and software solutions are made available as open source wherever possible. The DZD is also in close contact with the seven other German Centers for Health Research (DZG) and other initiatives in order to promote the use of comprehensive standards and interfaces.
