What’s new in cardiodiabetology? How can people lose weight—with and without weight-loss injections? And what should people with diabetes know about micronutrients, proteins, and the glycemic index? Experts will answer these and many other questions at the Düsseldorf Diabetes Day, which is being organized for the 24th time by the DZD partner German Diabetes Center (DDZ), among others.
A special focus this year is on diabetes and cardiovascular diseases: What interactions exist, and how do they affect treatment? The interplay between hormones and diabetes is also a central topic: From puberty through pregnancy to menopause, insulin requirements change—and with them, the demands on treatment.
A special focus is placed on sharing experiences: People with type 1 and type 2 diabetes talk about their daily lives and offer practical tips for living independently with diabetes—such as how to successfully cross the Alps with diabetes or how to avoid skin irritation caused by diabetes devices in everyday life.
Further highlights of the program:
- New training methods such as blood flow restriction training (BFRT) for building muscle mass in people with diabetes
- Micronutrients & proteins—what the body really needs
- Nutrition as a tool: food trends, the glycemic index, and other important topics
- Diabetes & technology: insulin pumps, AID, and closed-loop systems
- Comorbidities and complications associated with diabetes
