Timo Müller receives the 2026 ADA Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award
A special highlight is the presentation of the prestigious 2026 ADA Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award to DZD researcher Prof. Timo Müller. Prof. Müller, Director of the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity (IDO) at Helmholtz Munich, is being honored for his groundbreaking contributions to obesity and diabetes research, particularly for fundamental discoveries regarding the biology of the GIP receptor in the central nervous system and for the development of innovative incretin-based therapies. With more than 200 publications in leading scientific journals, Müller is internationally regarded as one of the leading figures in metabolic research and is driving groundbreaking advances in diabetes research and metabolic medicine. The award ceremony will take place on June 8 from 9:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. There, Prof. Müller will present his research in a keynote lecture titled “Hormonal Control of Metabolism by GIP and Next-Generation Incretin-based Polyagonists.”
Dr. Kalliopi Pafili is also being honored with an award. For her work entitled
“Visceral Adipose Tissue–Derived Small Extracellular Vesicles from Humans with MASLD Alter ER Stress and Mitochondrial Respiration in Hepatocytes”, she will receive the Young Investigator Award.
In addition to its scientific contributions, the DZD will host a booth at the conference. Attendees are warmly invited to stop by during session breaks to learn more about the DZD’s research activities and current highlights.
