FAIRification of the DZD Core Data Set

The DZD Core Data Set has defined a standard for clinical diabetes and metabolic research for three years. In order to ensure uniform data collection, the publicly accessible metadata of the DZD Core Data Set is continuously expanded in line with the FAIR data principles.

"FAIRification" stands for the process of making data findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable. FAIRification is therefore a topic that plays a major role in current scientific discourse and also at the DZD.
With its five partner sites as well as associates and project partners, the DZD is conducting several large studies at various centers, and the scientists are working together on translational research projects across all sites.
At the same time, the DZD's work in the field of data harmonization is aimed at a research community that extends beyond the DZD.

Standards were already set in 2021 with the definition of a DZD Core Data Set for clinical diabetes research. In 2022, the Core Data Set was published on an independent platform and thus made available to all researchers and interested parties.

Standardized questionnaires now also included
Following a revision, all medical codes were updated at the beginning of this year. In addition, following the clarification of licensing issues, the standardized questionnaires have also been included in full in the publication - a further step towards successful FAIRification.
