DZD Diabetes Research School in Stockholm, September 13-14, 2015
The 3rd DZD Diabetes Research School will take place in Stockholm, Sweden, right before the start of the EASD Annual Meeting.
The School's speakers list includes renowned diabetes scientists who will give exiting insights of the current translational diabetes research.
New: student's poster session
For the first time attendees of the DZD Diabetes Research School will have the opportunity to present their own research at the school. The scientific chair of the DZD Training & Education Program will make a selection among the submitted abstracts. In order to make such presentation possible for as many students as possible we decided to schedule a poster session instead of the originally planned short talks.
- Barbara Cannon (Stockholm University / Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences)
Brown fat and obesity - Leif Groop (Malmö University)
Can genetics of diabetes be translated into the clinic? - Philip Larsen (Sanofi)
Innovation for the diabetes patient: the end of drug discovery as we know it - Patrik Rorsman (Oxford University)
Glucagon secretion - a sadly neglected player in diabetes research? - Ulf Smith (Gothenburg University)
The role of adipose tissue in insulin resistance - Claes Wollheim (Geneva University)
The islet beta cell is an insulin factory, whose output is dysregulated in type 2 diabetes
The School will be chaired by Hans-Ulrich Häring and Michele Solimena, members of the DZD executive board.
The School's venue is Hasselbacken Hotel on Stockholm's famous Djurgarden island. Here you are in the heart of Swedish history. This island is home of the Vasa Museum and the Nordish Museum as well as of the historical open air museum Skansen.
Here a guided tour on "Health and Illnesses in the Past" will be followed by the welcome dinner in Skansen's Solliden restaurant. The evening lecture on the Gustavian Floor of Solliden restaurant will be held by the President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Barbara Cannon.
