First Russian - German Conference on Endocrinology/Diabetology

Upon the initiative of academy member Professor Ivan I. Dedov, president of the Russian Academy of Medical Science (RAMS), and Professor Helmut Hahn, foreign member of RAMS and chairman of the Koch- Metschnikow Forum (KMF), the “First Russian-German Conference in Endocrinology/Diabetology” took place in Moscow on October 24-25, 2013 with the participation of the DZD.

Besides RAMS and KMF, the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the German Society of Endocrinology, the German Diabetes Society, the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) and the Charité Berlin participated in the organization. The primary aim of the conference was that the two academies and professional societies become acquainted with each other. Furthermore, young scientists should be given the opportunity to get to know each other through participation in the conference.
From the German side, at the beginning of the conference the DZD was introduced by Prof. Solimena, the Leopoldina by Prof. Hauner, the DGE by Prof. Schatz, the DDG by Dr. Garlichs and the KMF by Prof. Hahn.
The first day of the two-day conference was devoted to diabetology and the second day to endocrinology. In the diabetology part, members of the DZD held lectures: Prof. Solimena, Prof. Schürmann, Prof. Al-Hasani and Prof. Hauner. On the Russian side the lecturers were Prof. Peterkova, Prof. Smirnova, Prof. Titovich, Prof. Shamhalova, Prof. Konenkov and Prof. Galstyan.
