The clustering of risk groups is based on the original publication by Professor Robert Wagner at al. (Wagner R et al. Nat Med 2021; 27: 49-57), which showed the existence of six prediabetes subphenotypes with different courses of disease development.
So far, the clustering algorithm has only been used for scientific purposes. If further developed, the prediabetes classification project could become a useful tool not only for scientists but also for physicians and patients.
