International Helmholtz Diabetes Conference

The DZD partner Helmholtz Zentrum München is hosting the 8th Helmholtz Diabetes Conference, May 10-12, 2021. Internationally leading scientists in diabetes research will come together virtually to present and discuss current research findings. The focus of the diabetes conference is on the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms involved in the development of diabetes.

Leading international experts will speak at the conference. Ten scientific sessions will take place on the following topics: Neuronal Control of Metabolism, Epigenetics and Pharmacogenomics, Adipose Tissue, Genetics of Type 1 Diabetes, Cell Metabolism, Diabetes and Cancer, Epigenetics of Diabetes and Hormone Action. The Helmholtz Diabetes Lecture will be given by Dr. Susan Bonner-Weir of the Joslin Diabetes Center.

The Helmholtz Young Investigator in Diabetes (HeIDi) Award will also be presented at the conference. The award recognizes the outstanding achievements of two young scientists – rising stars.
