“Since the early days, even before the founding of IMPC, Martin Hrabě de Angelis has been a pioneer of the international effort to decipher the function of genes in mammals”, said Prof. Steve Brown, Chair of the Executive Board of IMPC and Director of MRC Harwell at the award ceremony. “In addition to his outstanding scientific achievements in developmental genetics, epigenetics and diabetes research he has been instrumental to structure the mouse research community at the European and global level – first  as director of the European Mouse Mutant Archive (EMMA) and then by building up the European research infrastructure INFRAFRONTIER to unravel the role of gene function in human disease by the systemic phenotyping of mouse models”, Brown said.
